Wolf Hamster: The Remake (Chapter 4 & 5)
Chapter 4: Secrets Revealed
"Umm.. hello there. I-I'm looking for someone that a-actually looks like y-you but he's s-small and has brown f-fur with orange s-stripes... Have you s-seen him..?" Said Lilly in a worried and nervous voice.
The wolf creature turns his head over to a near by hill, that isn't far from where they are. She looks towards the hill. 'He's.. up there..? But that's where I found..!'
Lilly looks back at it. "T-Thank you!" Then she rushes up the hill as the moon still lights her way.
It looks at her for a moment and then walks away from the area that they met.
'I didn't know it back then but that was Miles as a wolf when I first went up to this hill. I just never got the chance to take a good look at him so I wouldn't have known.. until now. At least, it could have been him. Maybe it was that other wolf instead? But it wasn't afraid of me.. for some reason it came to me.. but why..?' She thought as she runs for the hill. Finally making it at the top and being out of breath she catches her breath first and then walks around, searching for him.
Then she shouts for him. "Miles?! Miles!" She waits but he doesn't come.. 'Maybe that wolf is wrong..'
But little does Lilly know is that Miles is here.. but he's hiding on the edge of the hill's top between a bunch of trees. '..Lilly... Even after what I've done to her.. she still wants me..? But this isn't going to work.. we can't be together because of me... I had to abandon my parents and my best friend because of what I became...' He thought, sitting like a wolf and whinning a little.
"Miles, if your here, please come out!" She pleaded.
'Go away.. it's over... Just like everyone else that I wanted to stay with....' He then whines and it's loud enough that Lilly can hear it.
"M-Miles... 'Was that.. him?' I-If that is you whinning.. I'm really sorry that I followed you and saw you transform! But I wish that you told me about that earlier but you never did and I wondered why you had to keep leaving during sunset so I did... I followed you and I regret it... but even though I'm mad at you for not telling me.. I-I still don't want to leave you...!" She said as tears start to form.
She waits patiently for him for a while and then decides to leave. "I-In case me being here is making things worse for you... I-I'm going home before the moon isn't able to light my way back anymore.. Feel free to come to my place if you ever want to." She said with a small smile but it quickly turns back into a frown. "Goodbye.." Lilly walks towards the start at where the hill slants.
'Even if I am scared and nervous about seeing you... I-I still don't want to leave you either.. but my body.. it won't budge...' His eyes form tears as they drop onto his fur. Miles has no choice but to force himself to run out of his hiding spot, so that's what he did but he keeps his distance from her, afraid of what will happen next between them. She hears the running of his four paws hitting the ground. The white hamster stops walking and turns around, surprised to see him as she stands between the slant and the start of the hill's top. Lilly smiles and starts walking to him but he growls with his tail tucked between his back legs, despite being startled by this she walks back as he stops growling. "You.. don't want me to be any closer to you as I am now, don't you?"
He nods with a frown, trying to say yes.
"'He must be trying to say yes..' I'm so glad that you came out.. 'That wolf was right all along.'" She said with a smile. "I missed you but I was very angry at you too.. I was thinking about giving you a piece of my mind but.. I've cooled down a lot since then."
Miles sits down and listens with alerted ears and a non-tucked furry tail.
"You know.. now that I can see you better.. Your actually cute like this."
He looks at her with wide eyes. Him.. cute?? He shakes his head a couple times, trying to say no with a disappoved grunt.
The blonde haired hamster giggles and looks up at the bright full moon. "Why don't we sit over there. We can watch the moon together if you want." She said while pointing to the center that's surrounded by trees. Despite the trees being there, the moon is higher. Miles nods again and Lilly replies with a smile. She walks towards the center while still keeping her distance from him. After the blonde haired hamster gets to the center, the wolfish hamster walks there as well and then sits down, still not wanting to be close to her he keeps a good amount of space open between them. His fear of her has settled down in a way but he knows that if he doesn't keep his distance from her then he'll be too scared to be with her and would want to hide again. This is the best that he can manage for now.
After watching him walk towards the center, Lilly smiles and takes a seat on the moonlit grass. "I had a hard time looking for you but still, I didn't want to give up. I even fell asleep and had a short dream.. about my grandpa. He told me a tale that had to do with the moon.. and some kind of creature that has a connection to it."
The wolfish Miles looks at her and listens with alerted ears, being interested about this tale and she never spoke to him about her grandpa before.
"I don't remember what the creature was called though.. but he did tell me what it is but he told me this when I was a kid. It doesn't matter though, it's not real. But what I remember from my dream is that some say that it is. I won't believe it until I see proof though. I wish I knew what the creature was.. then I would be able to know if it's real or not."
Miles tries to reply with a bark, she looks at him and giggles once more.
He becomes embarrassed by this and growls a little.
"I'm sorry but it was cute how your trying to reply even though I can't understand you."
He looks at her with a disturbed face and sighs with a little wolf-like sound that sounds like a whine.
"Let's just forget about that.. You know, after I woke up from my dream and found out that the moon can light my way, I actually met someone who looks similar to you!"
The wolfish hamster makes a whine like sound that sounds like he's saying What??!.
"Yeah! But it was bigger than you and had gray and white fur and yellow eyes.. It somehow knew where you were since I asked it about you, even though I don't think you two know each other.. Do you know someone like that, Miles?
The small wolf like creature shakes his head no, trying to say no again.
"Hmm.. I wonder who that could be and I wonder why it even helped me.."
He barks again, trying to say Yeah! but he regrets it once Lilly looks at him again.
But she only smiles at him but then hears a wolfish yawn.
Miles Wolf, yawns as his sharp teeth show and shine in the moon's light. The white hamster gulps at this, remembering that she saw those teeth a week ago. Little does she know, he notices this, quickly closes his mouth after the yawn and whines a little, wondering if she's alright.
"Why are you whining? Did you hurt yourself?"
He shakes his head no, once more.
"Then.. why where you whining?"
For the fact that she can't understand him when he's like this, he looks up at the moon with a frown. 'I wish she could understand me.. Maybe I'll get to explain this to her in the morning..' He yawns again, bigger one this time and then his eyes get droopy and decides to lay down. He lays down with his front legs stretched out and lays his head down on the grass.
"Are you going to sleep..?"
He barks again, trying to say Yeah and then closes his sleepy blue eyes.
"Good night, Miles. I'll go to sleep myself soon. 'And I'll stay here with him, I don't really want to leave him here by himself.'"
The two sleep peacefully in the morning sun.. that is until... "WHAT??! It's morning ALREADY?!" Shouted a startled Lilly. "I can't believe I over slept! I gotta get him up right away!" She quickly stands up and runs down the hill, not realizing that Miles is a hamster again, still laying in the same position. He wakes up with droopy eyes, being woken up by her shouting and wonders why she was being so loud.
She quickly runs through the forest, somehow knowing where she needs to go in order to get back home. Once she finds her home she runs up the stairs and opens the door and runs to the analog kitchen clock to check the time as she huffs and puffs from all the running. "What??! It's 11:42am already?! Great.. now it's too late..." She sits on the tile floor in defeat with a frown.
Miles walks through the door since it's already open and shuts it behind him and looks at her. "Are you.. alright?" He asked.
She stands up and turns to face him, she was so worried that she forgot all about him.. She makes a big sigh. "No.. It's just that I'm suppose to wake up my brother at 8am for school since the bus comes at 9 but now it's too late. I'm such a bad sister... I left him all alone while we hanged out together and now... I forgot to wake him up for school. I told dad I would wake him up for school every day but I missed today.." Said Lilly as she sobs.
Miles giggles a little. "Just because you missed waking him up for school doesn't mean you should cry about it. Besides it's just this one time, right?"
She stops sobbing. "Yeah.. but I've also been leaving him alone a lot since we met.. and I sometimes did that even before we met. I have to take care of him more because of dad being gone and I don't know when he's coming back.. Just because he bothers me doesn't mean I should leave him all alone, should I?"
"Uhh.. well.." He started to say.
"But what about me? I shouldn't have to be with him in the house most of the time! Sometimes I need a break from him but.. I guess I shouldn't get that with dad not being here.." She pouted with her little arms crossed.
He sighs. "Oh, Lilly.." The orange stripped hamster tries to walk to her but he feels nervous about this, his body is disobeying him again. He looks down with a gulp, wondering if there's a way through this.
"Is there something wrong..?" Lilly asked.
This makes Miles more nervous. He looks up at her. "N-No.. n-nothings wrong... I'm okay.." He said with a startling tone. Miles tries to give her a smile but it looks weird.
"Are you sure..?" Lilly asked once more. She then walks to him.
This makes him even more nervous! He's so nervous that he quickly opens the door and runs through the doorway on all fours.
"Miles..? 'What's wrong with him?'" She said as she follows him outside and about to step on the second step.
"Hold it right there! Don't you DARE move!" Said Miles, growling while on all fours in the front yard.
"But why..?"
"Just don't, okay! Please!" He said with worry in his voice.
She sighs and sits down on the first step of the staircase. "Alright, I won't come any closer." She then looks at him with a worried look, he's shaking all over.. It's because he's scared, isn't it? Lilly becomes more worried. "Your still scared of me? Even after what happened last night?"
"Yeah.. I'm afraid so... It wasn't enough to make my.. I guess I'll call it wolf side.. to be calm around you."
"Your wolf side? Does this mean.. that your a-"
"Wolf Hamster? Yeah.. great, isn't it..? At least, I have to be one by the way I act.. and I also transform when the moon is out.." Said Miles, while sitting like a wolf does.
("Miles, is this.. true?" Asked Lilly.)
"So.. when I asked if it was true that your a Wolf Hamster, like The Hunter said.."
"I really didn't know.. so I questioned the thought myself.. but I thought it over one moonlit night and.. it does make sense. I've been leaving during sunset because.. I knew that the moon was coming soon. I have these senses that warn me when the moon is coming. I'm ashamed at what I am cause it brings me down so much and it's weird.. So, I never wanted you to see that wolf-thing that I turn into... I also have the thoughts and feelings of one. Of course the side that I know and love is easy going for me.. but that wolf part of me, it's hard to cope with.. When I ran away from you and that hunter.. I didn't know why I did that but I found out that since it's a possibility that I could be a Wolf Hamster, I didn't want to face the truth but I have to. I'm afraid of what you might think of me, being so different from everyone.. That girl that I told you about earlier saw me during a moonlit night and after that things went sour. I keep running into some kind of problem because of what I ended up becoming. If I can't be with you.. I don't know what to do with my life anymore..."
"Oh, Miles.. I feel really bad for you. It sounds really hard to be a Wolf Hamster.."
"It is.. it seems like half of my thoughts and my actions are like a wolf's. Which explains why I ran on all fours, unlike a hamster and why I'm not sitting.. like a normal hamster.. So.. umm.. do you think that you can still hang out with me despite all this wolf stuff? If you can't I don't blame you.."
Lilly stands up with a determinded look. "Of course I still want to hang out! I want to be your friend if you'll let me! It doesn't matter to me if your a Wolf Hamster or not, it'll never change my mind! I actually think your interesting. Besides, I already told you that your cute as a wolf. Well, when your not mad at me.. heh heh."
It doesn't matter if he's different or not, she certaintly isn't going to hurt him, besides being different can sometimes be a good thing or even a great thing!
Miles giggles at the not being mad at me part. "Wow.. you.. really mean it??!"
"Yep!" She said with a big smile.
"Lilly.. that's awesome that you think that way about me!! And yeah, I DO want to be friends with you!" He said happily. "Since your good or maybe even great about me being a Wolf Hamster.. That means you won't harm me or hurt my feelings, right? I know you won't but I want to make sure."
"I'll do my best not to harm you or hurt your feelings."
Happy tears form in Miles' blue eyes. He doesn't feel even a slight bit of fear in his wolf side, all he feels is joy and happiness for he is finally truly loved by a girl, well as a friend. He runs up to her across the yard and up the staircase and gives her a big hug. "Oww... too tight.. too TIGHT!" Lilly shouted in pain. She's glad that she finally gets an official hug from him but.. she didn't know that he was thinking of giving her THIS tight of a hug.
"Miles.. I know your happy.. and all but.. this hug is TOO tight!"
Miles becomes shocked about this and quickly lets her go, letting his new friend gasp and able to breath fine again.
"Sorry about that! But I just got so happy that-"
"It's alright.. just don't give that tight of a hug ever again." Said Lilly as she giggles.
"I'll try to remember that if I plan to hug you like that again.. Since I'm comfortable with you now, completely instead of half way.. Will it be alright if I stay with you and Skyler..? Even though the forest is my comfort zone.. I do get pretty lonely when your gone." He then gives her puppy dog eyes. "Please, I'll behave."
The white hamster smiles sweetly at those eyes and sad looking frown. "Of course it's alright! You can stay as long as you want since I'm the one in charge until my dad gets back.
"R-Really? YES!" He shouted with joy.
The two of them go inside the house and into the living room.
"Ahh.. thanks for letting me stay here" Said Miles as he happily jumps on the couch and sits down.
"No problem! Wow, your actually staying here.. this is great!!"
"Haha, where you waiting for this moment or something?"
"In a way.. but I thought that dad would be here by now.. but he's not, so he can't tell me what I can do and what I can't do." She said with a smile.
"That's good and all.. but what happens when your dad DOES show up? Wouldn't he get mad?" The striped hamster asked.
"Uhh.. Well.. That's his fault cause he should have been here by now. This is what he gets for leaving me all alone with Skyler, he should know that stuff like this is bound to happen."
"Oh.. well, that does suck on your part but if you want to go along with that excuse then go ahead."
She gives him a disturbed look but suddenly thinks of something.
"I gotta wake up Skyler and tell him the great news!! I'll be back!" She happily goes up the stairs to Skyler's room.
Lilly opens the door to his room, goes to her sleepy brother who is in his bed, grabs him and begins shaking him excitedly to wake him up.
Skyler wakes up with a loud yawn. "Hi sis, is it time to wake up for school?"
"No.. because I was sleeping with Miles outside last night and didn't wake up at the right time so it's too late for you to go to school today... but I got something even better to show you!"
"You where sleeping outside with Miles.. Was he a wolf last night..??!" He said in horror, thinking about those howls that he heard that night.
"Yeah, he was but he's back to normal now."
Skyler looks at her with wide eyes. "I can't believe you did that... Doesn't he scare you?!"
"No.. in fact he's actually cute as a wolf!" She said with a smile.
"C-Cute?! How can he be cute?!"
"Hey! You got your opinion about him and I got mine! Now let's go downstairs, I got something to show you!"
"Alright.." He slowly goes downstairs with Lilly and gasps at the sight of Miles sitting on the couch. "W-W-What is h-he doing h-here?!!" He shouted as he points his stubby finger at him.
"This is the good news that I was talking about, he's gonna be staying with us from now on! Isn't that great?!"
"N-N-Noooo!" He screamed as he runs to his bedroom in fright.
Miles sighs. "I should have known it was too good to be true.." He said with a sad voice and then gets off the couch and heads for the main door in the kitchen.
Lilly blinks in confusion at this and her eyes follow him. "Where.. are you going?"
"The forest.. of course." He then starts to cry. "It's because I'm a Wolf-Ham isn't it! It's a curse.."
The blonde haired hamster walks to him. "Wait.. hold on. It doesn't mean that all is lost."
He stops crying and turns his head to her. "There's hope..?"
"Of course, don't give up now!" She said with determination.
He quickly turns to her. "Your right, I shouldn't give up! It looked like your little brother was scared of me.. I'm pretty sure it has to do with what I am but.. maybe there's more to it?"
She begins to think. "Hmm..." Then a lit light bulb appears above her head since she has an idea. "Those howls that night after what we went through with that hunter.. where they yours?"
The orange striped hamster blushes and gets nervous. "Oh.. that.. Well.. you see I was sad about how that hunter screwed things up with us so I started howling.."
She pointed her stubby finger at the Wolf-Ham. "Aha! So, it was you! And what I thought was a normal wolf was actually you transformed!"
He blushes more. "Yeah.. your right about that too.. I don't like how we ended up seeing each other like that."
"Oh.. I'm sorry. It caught me by surprise too." She then blushes. "I ended up finding you sooner than I thought.."
He nods. "But why would Skyler be afraid of my howls? I think of them being more like a sad song."
"He thinks they're creepy and he's also afraid of being eaten.."
"Your brother really thinks that I'm going to eat him..?" He said in a disturbed tone.
"Since your half wolf, did you ever get the urge to eat a hamster..?" Lilly asked, a little worried.
"Are you crazy?? I never ever had that kind of urge! I've been eating rabbits, chicken, basically meat. I never thought that it would happen.. but I'm a meat lover." He then gives off a big smile with hearts in his eyes but his mood turns sour. "Though, I rather not have to kill it in order to have some meat.."
Lilly becomes nervous at this. "Oh... right, I was told that wolves.. do that.."
"Oh come on! It's not a big deal.. is it?"
"Umm.. anyway.. It's great that wolves don't eat hamsters so we can rule that out." She then gives off a nervous laugh.
"Yeah.. 'Why didn't she give me an answer?' Now the only problem is the fact that I howled and will eventually do that again since I'm stuck like this."
Lilly thinks of something her grandfather told her when she was young, back when she was scared of thunder and lightning. "Sometimes the only way to stop being scared is to face your fear."
"I got it! Maybe the only way Skyler is going to get over this is to face his fear! Which is you!"
"Easier said than done. When he saw me, he looked at me like I was a monster. As long as I stay here he's not going to come out and forcing him to come out won't do any good. He needs to come out on his own."
"Now I think the best way to approach my brother is to be nice and gentle with him. Try not to upset him. If you screw this up it might not work.. We'll both go to his room and I'll knock on the door while you remain quiet and hidden until I tell you to come in. Alright?" She explained.
He nods with a frown, feeling like her plan isn't going to work but it's not like he can think of something better.
Lilly knocks at the door on Skyler's bedroom gently. The door opens a little and a part of her brother's face is seen. "Hello my cute little brother! May I come in?" Asked the white hamster.
"I-Is the w-wolf still there..?"
"No.. he's not here. He.. went outside." She lied and looks back at Miles, who is near the bathroom, sitting like his wolf side does.
'I am not a wolf! Okay not ALL the time..'
"Are.. you sure he's outside?" Lilly nods with a slight smile.
He opens the door more to be able to get out of his bedroom and when he looks down the hallway behind her, he gasps. "Lilly! You lied to me!" He shouted at her.
"Look Skyler, I don't like being like this either but from what I heard when someone gets bitten by a Wolf Hamster then that hamster becomes one. Which is what I really am. I didn't have a choice and yet my life is miserable like this, especially when I'm alone. Lilly makes me happy despite being like this and I'd like to be happy around you to. So please, give me a chance to make myself to not look like a threat to you."
Despite the fact that she told him to stay quiet, she smiles at what he said.
"..D-Does that mean that.. you'll stop howling.. a-and won't eat me?" He said nervously.
He replies with a nervous laugh. "I can't stop the howl but.. when I'm sad I usually end up doing them.. But I don't kill hamsters! It would be strange since I'm still a hamster, just one with a wolf side."
"Oh.. can you warn me if your going to do them?" The brown and white hamster sighs in relief as a reply to Miles' second answer.
"Sure! You can count on it! Unless I'm in.. Wolf-Ham mode, then you won't be able to understand me and it'll be best for me to stay outside during those times."
"Wolf-Ham mode?"
"Yeah, I'm more like a mixture of a wolf and a hamster. It's strange I know.. Just so we're cool, do not call me a wolf again."
"Huh. Okay! And just warn me as much as you can."
Miles replies with a nod.
Minutes later Skyler plays a video game while he sits on the floor with his wired controller while Miles and Lilly sit on the couch.
"My little brother faced his fear! So, there's no reason that you can't stay." She smiles, feeling happy and proud of her brother.
He nods happily. "But.. I wonder if your parents will be good with me living with you guys."
She frowns. "I'm not sure but I know mom would be better off with you staying here than my dad. Though it's him that'll come back first. I hope mom comes back first instead but I doubt it.."
Miles frowns. "I see.. 'It doesn't sound like he's going to be easy to convince..'"
Chapter 5: Back from the Search
It's night time and Lilly and Miles already brushed their teeth. Miles walks into her bedroom and lays on her comfy bed, being so relaxed he sighs happily. Then the one who owns the bedroom herself walks in and shuts the door behind her. "Skyler's all tucked in for the night so now it's our turn." She takes her blue ribbon out of her hair, then takes out a sky blue ponytail that was underneath the ribbon as her hair then flows behind her back freely. He blushes while sitting like a hamster, and likes how she looks with her hair down. "So.. your really sure that you won't transform tonight.. right?" She then faces him.
He nods. "I sense that a new moon is going to be out tonight so I'm not going to be transforming."
"You can sense that too?" She questioned.
"Yeah. It's like when I sense when I'm about to transform and it comes in handy when I rather transform in private. Which is what I've been doing before you found out.." He explained.
"Wow, that sounds neat!"
"It's not gonna last long though.. I'll be wolf-like again before I can get used to being a abnormal hamster.. And I better not spend the night here when that happens. Even though I'd like to.. but it's best if I don't."
"So, that's how it is.. Cool." She smiles, being interested.
"Which side of the bed do you want to sleep on? It doesn't matter to me." He said with a smile.
She replies with a disturbed look. "Did I ever say that you can sleep on my bed?"
He becomes nervous. "N-No.."
"Your right, I didn't. Besides what if one of my parents comes home and comes into my room and sees us sleeping. Both of them will get mad at me, especially you since your a stranger here and of course a male."
He blushes hard and looks down at the bed. "Then.. can I sleep somewhere.. in your room..?"
She giggles. "Alright since you really want to.. I'll give you a pillow." She climbs onto her bed and takes a pillow from the one side and drops the pillow beside her bed, with it being in front of her nightstand. "That pillow can be your bed."
"W-What?? That's it?! That's my BED??!" He shouted.
She sighs, turns off the lamp that the nightstand is on and lays down on the side that still has a pillow. "Please go to bed, Miles. Good night.." She says with a sleepy groan and then yawns.
He growls and then jumps off the bed and lays on the pillow with his stomach facing the top of it. He really doesn't like being treated like this, he thought he would be treated as a guest, not as a tamed wolf but he would be embarrassed if at least one of her parents saw them sleeping in her bed together and he'd probably be kicked out.. Yikes! He definitely did not want that to happen. So he figured that he has no choice than to accept this wolf-like fate, at least for tonight. He yawns and falls asleep.
It's the next day, Saturday morning to be exact and the two hamsters and the Wolf Hamster is still asleep.. Suddenly the door bell rings and Miles wakes up from the sound with half open blue eyes and sniffs the air, trying to find out who is ringing the door's bell. He finds out that it isn't familiar to him as his eyes quickly open the whole way and then growls. Miles gets up and runs out of the room on all fours, getting up on two feet in order to open the door and barks and growls some more on his way out, back on all fours and isn't concerned about shutting the door this time, even though Lilly is still sleeping. The door's bell has already rang two times already. Then he runs down the hallway, down the stairs, through the living room and into the kitchen while growling. Heading for the door he puts his paws on it and barks again and growls. The door's bell rang and then rings while Miles is very concerned about the stranger at the door as his paws are still on it. After the last ring and hearing a bark from downstairs, Lilly finally wakes up.
She runs into the kitchen and sees a growling Miles. 'Why is he growling?' Walking to him, she tries to get to the door, trying to see who's on the other side but he prevents her from doing so by standing up on his two feet and puts himself in front of her, blocking the door's knob in the process. "Don't answer it! There's a stranger at the door.."
"To you it could be but what if it's my mom or my dad. Now move." She said, trying to be polite despite not knowing why he's like this.
"No." He growls at her.
The door bell rings again.
"If you don't know, that door bell is gonna keep ringing until I answer it."
"Sis? What's going on? Who's at the door?" Said Skyler.
"Miles doesn't want me to answer the door and I'd really like to know who it is!" She shouted. It seems like she shouted at her brother but it was really Miles.
The Wolf Hamster looks worried at her and decides to let her answer it. He gets out of her way and runs off on all fours. Lilly puts a paw on the knob and turns it and with the door opening, the one who was ringing the bell is none other than Lilly and Skyler's dad.
"Dad?!" Said Lilly with a surprised tone. She then moves away from the door to let him walk in and he does.
"Dad!" Said Skyler with happy tears below his eyes. He then happily runs to him and gives him a hug.
"Whoa!" He then laughs and hugs him back. "I missed you too, champ." Clearly knowing that he missed him and he's right.
"Welcome home!" She smiles. "Did you find mom??!"
"Thanks, Lilly!" He smiles but then frowns. "No, I haven't.. Wish I did though."
Father and son break their hug. "Now why did I hear barking? And why did it take a while for someone to open the door?"
"Well.. we where sleeping, though Miles was in the way at first.. he's also the reason why you heard barking.." When she talked about him she becomes nervous.
"Miles..? He's a male hamster, isn't he?" Their dad asked.
"Ha.. ha.. Yeah.. he is.. and I uh.. let him spend the night here.. too.. But I made sure did he didn't sleep with me! Instead I got him to sleep on one of my pillows and put it on the floor that's next to my bed." Her tone was nervous at first but then it becomes bold and filled with strength.
He replies with a frown and sighs. "I guess this is what I get since I got you out of school until I came back, I wanted to come back until I had your mom but I was worried about you two and told myself that I was gone enough."
The blonde haired hamster blushes. "Yeah, maybe that's it.. It's not like I could see my friends and I definitely couldn't find a boyfriend at home.."
"Yeah.. I'm really sorry about that. If your mom wasn't missing then things could be normal and I wouldn't have to get you out of school for a while."
"You don't have to apologize! It's not your fault that she's gone. You tried and even though you came home without her, I'm still glad that your here."
"She's right and I'm glad that your here too, dad." Said her brother.
He smiles. "Thank you, I appreciate it. So.. where is Miles? Is he still here?"
She looks around the kitchen, no Miles, she then walks out of the kitchen and into the living room, no sign of him again. 'Where is he?' She then calls out to him. "Miles! Where are you?"
The Wolf Hamster that she's looking for pops his head out from underneath the couch with a frown on his face. "Here.." He said quietly with a blush. Lilly hears him and walks to the couch and giggles at the sight of only seeing his head. "What are you doing under there?" She said with confusion.
"I was hiding.." He said, still quietly and still blushing. Not liking the fact that he had to hide. "Hidding? How come?" Then her dad and her young brother walk into the living room. Seeing their dad, the Wolf-Ham becomes nervous. He giggles at him, his reason for doing that is the same as Lilly's. "You must be, Miles. I'm Benjamin, Lilly and Skyler's dad. You can call me Benjamin or Ben. It doesn't matter what you choose."
Looking at this moment as a time to come out from underneath of the couch fully, he does and stands on his two feet. He then wipes away the dust and dirt that is on himself with his paws, afterwords he looks up at him, clearly being taller than him. "H-Hi.. Yeah, I'm.. Miles."
"Hey. Lilly told me you are the one who was.. barking. I don't think you where pretending so it might've been real.."
He freezes and becomes more nervous. "I-I.. I uh... t-that.."
Benjamin looks at him with confusion. 'Now he looks even more uneasy with me.. Perhaps I shouldn't have brought that up.'
Knowing that the orange and brown Wolf Hamster is very uneasy with her dad, Lilly speaks up in order to try to help him. "Miles is.. different from other hamsters. So, try not to push him with your words and there's no need to worry about his actions."
He looks at her. "Different? Well, he does have claw marks going over his one eye and his one ear looks like it got bitten and whatever did it torn a piece of it off.."
She looks at him. "Yeah, there is that but he can be different sometimes with the way he acts."
"Huh.. I see. But why is he different?" He asked.
"Uh.. well.. you see he's.." She looks at the Wolf-Ham, seeing if it's alright to tell him. He looks back at her and nods slowly. 'He might as well know.. Lilly knows, Skyler knows..'
Getting his approval she looks back at her dad and tells him. "A Wolf Hamster??" He said in a confused tone. Lilly nods with a worried expression.
"I.. never heard of such a creature.. then does this mean that he's part wolf?"
Feeling kind of at ease he decides to talk. "I'm.. half wolf and half hamster, sir and I become a wolf and hamster creature.. when the moon is out.. except on a new moon.. Which is why I spent the night here last night."
"Wow.. I think that explains why you barked and how it sounded real.."
"I growl too.. and whine.. and do other stuff that a wolf does.."
"This is kind of interesting to me.. I read that wolves have a strong nose. So.. does that mean that your's is strong as well?"
"Yes.."
"Then can you do me a favor? This will also help my son and my daughter."
"What would that favor be..?"
Bejamin goes upstairs to his and his wife's bedroom and comes downstairs, bringing a red ribbon to Miles. "Can you sniff this ribbon for me?" Skyler and his sister watch from the side, not knowing what favor he wants Miles to do. "Yeah.. but why should I?"
"Because this red ribbon belongs to my wife and their mom and if you sniff it, maybe just maybe.. your nose can follow it and you can lead us to her.. She's been gone for months and I'm losing hope in finding her.. That is the favor that I'd like you to do for me, that is.. if your willing to help us..." He said emotionally and later on with tears in his eyes.
'Oh, dad..' Thought Lilly with tears. 'Dad..' Thought Skyler. This shocks the Wolf-Ham. 'I.. can help all three of them..?' Despite not liking his wolf side and his wolf like features, his strong nose can actually help! "I'll do it!" He said with pride. Ben holds the ribbon out with his paw, hanging on to it. Miles leans towards it and really takes in the scent of who it belongs to. Then he tries sniffing around the room on all fours, trying to find a scent trail that he can follow. He finds a faded one but his nose can pick up enough to follow it. "I found one!" He said happily. The determinded Wolf Hamster runs into the kitchen and runs outside with the door still opened. The three hamsters follow him. Miles runs down the staircase that is connected to the porch and runs to the forest. "Miles! Wait up!" Shouted Lilly with her and her family running down the steps. He stops near the entrance and looks back at them. 'Whoops.. I must be faster than they are..'
After the three catch up, he decides to be slow for their sake but he's still on all fours since he's still on the scent's trail. "Wow. You sure are something, Miles. I really appreciate this. Thank you!" Said Benjamin. "Don't thank me yet, Ben. Not until I find her but I'm glad that your praising me." He then smiles. Though he ends up coming to a cliff. He looks below and sees a raging river that makes him gulp. He notices that the trail continues on the other side but it's too far for him to jump to it, especially for his three companions. "Why did you stop?" Asked the female walking towards him, she then notices why. Standing at the edge of the cliff with Miles she now understands why he stopped. "Oh.. that's why."
"Yeah.. but your mom's scent trail continues on the other side but it's risky to try jumping over it, even for me. So, I'm gonna have to try to find a way to get to the other side."
Her dad over hears this as he walks towards them. "Well, despite this problem. I'm just glad that you made it this far for us." Miles and Lilly turn towards him and Skyler who is behind him. This makes the Wolf Hamster smile big. "It was no problem. I'm just happy that my wolf side helped."
Two days later in the afternoon, Skyler and Lilly play soccer on their front yard. Skyler is in front of the soccer goal net, trying to prevent Lilly from getting the soccer ball into the net but she keeps getting it in. Miles watches them play off to the side, sitting like a hamster at first in the grass but then like a wolf when his attention turns to the ball. Being kicked by her foot and zooms into the net to make a goal, startling her brother. Their dad watches off to the side as well, sitting in a folded up chair with a glass of a ice cold lemonade in his paw. He takes a sip and sighs happily at it's taste and smiles at his kids playing happily in the sun. The Wolf Hamster's eyes are very focused on that ball and then after the ribbon wearing hamster makes a strong kick on that soccer ball, Miles runs almost as fast as lightning towards it and pounces on it, then happily digs his now sharp canines into the soccer ball and runs off with it into the forest. Lilly and the hat wearing hamster groans at how he took it. This surprises Benjamin as he gets out of the chair and stands up. She decides to run after him, shouting his name in the process. In the forest she sees him up ahead, with his feet almost sitting like a wolf would but his paws hold on to the ball that's in front of him and chews on it. "Hey! That ball belongs to me and Skyler, not you!" He replies with a growl. The chewing Wolf Hamster then gets up on all fours and shakes the ball while it's still in his mouth. "Miles.." Said Lilly in a disturbed tone. She walks in front of him and the black and white ball and grabs it with her paws and pulls on it away from him with a grunt, trying to remove it from his mouth. "Give me.. the ball.." She said through a grunt. Not wanting to let it go he growls louder and pulls on it towards the opposite way. Skyler and Ben find Lilly and Miles with the ball. She hears them coming and says "Dad, he won't.. let go. Help me."
He walks closer to them, while Skyler stays put and watches with worry. "Miles, drop it."
He growls louder again and gives the soccer ball a few shakes but the white hamster manages to hang on to it. "Drop the ball now!!" Shouted Benjamin with a lot of strength in his voice. This scares the Wolf-Ham as he immediately let's go, which makes Lilly fall backwords towards the ground and has a hard landing. "Oww.." She said quietly but sits up with the black and white ball in her paws.
"You should have let go of the ball when I told you too!"
Having his hamster teeth back, he shouts at her. "I really wanted to chew on that ball! I couldn't help myself!"
"Why the heck do you want to chew on a ball for??!"
"It's a wolf thing, stupid! I wanted to chew cause I like to!"
Skyler and Ben watch them and blink in confusion at their argument.
"Really? Huh.. But why do you like to??"
He growls. "It doesn't matter, you won't understand.. Though it would be awesome to have my own ball to chew on.."
"Oh! I can help with that." Said their dad.
Afterwords Lilly wipes the saliva off the soccer ball with a towel, while wiping it off she notices sharp teeth punctures and sharp teeth marks on it. This makes her feel nervous and she doesn't tell her hat wearing brother but the two hamsters are able to continue their playtime like before.
Meanwhile, Miles and Ben are in the basement. There's an entrance on the side of the house that takes them down there after going through a two door doorway with a cemented staircase beyond it. Entering the cold dark room, Benjamin turns on a light with a lightswitch that's on the side of the door way, turning on the light that's on the ceiling. "Wait here, I'll go get it." He says and leaves Miles alone for a bit but comes back with an old basketball. "After the four of us moved here, we ended up leaving a town that has a basketball court. Lilly and Skyler used to love playing with this there but that was a year ago. I doubt they'll play with this again so you can chew on it as much as you want." He then smiles, giving the orange striped Wolf-Ham the ball. This makes him smile as he happily accepts it. Later.. during a moonlit night, Miles in Wolf Hamster form happily chews on the basketball at his favorite spot, aka the hill in the forest.
On a calm and clear night, a black and white hamster is taking a night time stroll through a forest. And comes upon a house, his home. Him and his grandma live here. He goes to the door and opens it. "Grandma! I'm back!" He spoke. Hearing the sound of a tv being on, he figures that she's watching it. Though for some reason he doesn't hear a reply like he usually does.. He walks into the living room and the sound of the object gets louder. Looking around the room he doesn't see her.. He decides to look for her upstairs, starting to feel worried. When he gets to the hallway, he suddenly hears someone slurpping something.. It's coming from the bathroom.. He slowly walks to it and sees a big, dark, and scary looking winged creature that notices him with it's spooky orange eyes and takes it's mouth out of his poor grandma's side [the side of her stomach], who is laying against the bathtub with her eyes shut tightly as if she's in pain. Two long fangs that are at the side of it's mouth slowly comes out of her side, as blood begins to drip from the fangs and a little from it's mouth. This young hamster watches this with much shock and fear, his eyes start to water as he becomes a lot more worried about the safety of his beloved grandma. The creature looks at this as an opportunity to attack him and does so. It jumps into the air and flies straight at him, the hamster notices this and literally runs like his life is on the line. Through a small part of the hallway, down the stairs, and into the dining room where he entered his home eariler. Then he runs to the door but ends up getting bitten at the same place where it bit his grand parent. He screams loudly in pain as the creature digs it's fangs deeper into his body and starts sucking his blood. The poor hamster faints from the shock. Meanwhile Wolf-Ham Miles is on that same cliff where the scent of Lilly and Skyler's mom is, trying to find a way to the other side by running straight on the edge of the side that he's on. Maybe there's a bridge or something that he can use.. Upon his search his nose catches an unfamiliar scent from above him that stops him. He looks up and sees a black winged creature with purple glowing eyes flying towards the other side of the cliff. 'I never seen anything like that before.. What is it?' He thought. Being determinded to help the three hamsters out more than he could earlier, he continues his search. The hamster from before wakes up and finds himself in a lit cave, with small lit torches being near him on the walls. Laying down, he gets up but screams in pain and sees a bandage that's wrapped around the side of his stomach. Seeing this, he remembers what happened.. he becomes scared and nervous, knowing that vicious creature bit him and how his grand parent got bitten as well.. Grandma! Is she alright??! I have to know. He gets on his feet, still feeling the pain on his side and tries to find his way out of this cave and back home. He walks and puts his paw on the cave's walls to support him and keeps doing it while the torches still light his way through the cold cave. A while later he grows tired and dizzy and ends up laying on his side against the cave's wall. Not being able to stand anymore, his collapses on his stomach. His mind really wants to see his grandma again but for some reason his body is unable to.. feeling more tired than before he falls asleep.
