Penny: The Winged Hamster Chapters"Old woman! Hello?!" Penny started walking down the concrete hospital steps. Not knowing where the old woman is or where to find her. "Dang it! Where are you blinded old woman?! Gah.. I should have asked Rebecca where to find her.." She was about to go back to the hospital when a voice spoke behind her. "You seem to be troubled about something." Penny turned around and screamed but stopped when she saw the hamster. She wore a dark grey hooded cloak with black sunglasses with her old gray hamster ears sticking out of her hood. "Are you the blinded old woman who knows the location of the crescent stone?" asked Penny. "Yes, I am. But I'm not old!" said the old woman. "But you are, your- eh.. never mind. I'm seeking the where a bouts of the crescent stone for a friend of mine which my other friend, Rebecca told me that you could help me." said Penny. "Ah, Rebecca. She's such a nice girl, helping out the villagers here from Mainyu. Yes, I can give you the location but first you must be worthy to know such a answer since it's very secret." said the old woman. "How do I become worthy?" asked Penny. "Give me your paw." said the old woman. Penny slowly gave her right paw. The old woman began checking her paw by placing her's on Penny's. "The wolf hamster that wishes to be normal seems very troubled about being one, correct?" said the old woman. "Yeah! How do you know?" said Penny surprisingly. "I can read your paw. I have a special way of finding out if someone is lieing or not and you my dear, your defiantly not lieing and you have a pure heart. Unlike Mainyu's.." said the old woman. "Wow, thanks! Wait? Mainyu tried getting the location of the stone from you?!" asked Penny. "Yes.. but he was the exact opposite of your paw and your heart. He did attack me with his lightning but that's when Rebecca came and rescued me before Mainyu's lightning hit me. That's the day I met Rebecca." said the old woman. "Yeah, it does make sense, he is destructive after all. Wow, amazing! You know she saved me from Mainyu too." said Penny with a smile. "She saves a lot of hamsters from him. Now it's time to give you the map to the crescent stone." said the old woman as she reached her paw inside a hidden pocket of her cloak and gave the map to Penny. "This map must not fall into into Mainyu's paws. Keep it save from him." said the old woman. Penny nodded with the map in her right paw. Little did Penny know that Mainyu was spying on the two hamsters in a alley near the hospital. "Sooo.. Penny was worthy enough to get the map, eh? It should be easy to get it from her than that blasted old woman." said Mainyu with a wicked smile as he flew off. Penny walked proudly with the map to the stone in her paw and a big smile on her face. "Yay! I can't believe I was worthy to her and I didn't even have to do any tests either!" said Penny as she walked south out of the village." Up above Penny was Mainyu following her in flight. He wasn't going to give up on the stone so easily.
Penny came to a fork in the road with one path going left and one going right. She held up the map wondering where to go next. Penny turned it sideways and upside down but still couldn't figure it out. She needed help. How could she find the stone on her own? Mainyu flying almost above her found the perfect chance to get the map. "I see your having some trouble. Maybe I could help." he said as he flew down in front of her. She turned around to him with a shock, knowing who the voice belonged to. "Mainyu! What are you doing here? Probably trying to get map from me, huh?!" she shouted. "Of course not, why would I even think of that? All I want to do is help you." he said with a wicked smile. "You.. want to help... me? How do I know your not going to take the map out of my paws while I'm not looking!" said Penny. "Don't worry, I'm done looking for the crescent stone. I just want to do a good deed for you. Besides, you should already know that someone who is evil wouldn't do such a thing but I will." said Mainyu. Penny wasn't sure about this but it couldn't hurt to let him help her, right? "Hmm.. alright. But if you even try to take the map from me then I will never trust you!" she said. "Alright, I promise." he said with his stubby fingers crossed behind him without her knowing.
"So, want are you having trouble with my dear?"
Mainyu flew down in front of the cave entrance letting Penny down slowly. "So, this is the crescent stone's location?" he asked. "According to the map it is but there's traps. And the map even tells you how to get passed them! That would be helpful!" she said looking at the map as she smiled. "Ah.. so it does..." he said walking over to her to see the map. He quickly extends his 'devil' like tail, using it to wrap around the map and quickly taking it back to his side. Penny quickly turned to him. "I didn't know you could do that.." she said in horror. "I'm just full of mysteries, aren't I? Hahaha!""Your.. dear? Never mind, I'm having trouble with choosing with path to go but this map doesn't make any sense." "Give me the map and I'll take a look." "How do I know your not going to take it from me and fly off?" "Sigh. You can trust me, my darling. I know I've been evil before but I've changed." "Sorry but I'm NOT going to let go of this map!" "Penny, what's the point of even HAVING a map when you can't even figure it out." "I know I can't figure out this part but I've figured out the other parts." she said as she stuck her tongue out at him. "How about we do this.. you can hold on to one side and I'll hold the other." "Fine.." Mainyu walked beside her as she unrolled the map for him to hold. "Let's see.. hmm.. you take the left path." he said as he held the map. "Are you sure? It seems to me that your just guessing." "Well, if you don't believe me then why don't I fly over to see if I'm right, Of course, with you by my side my sweetheart." he said with his right wing around her. "I can't believe I'm agreeing with you but.. that sounds like a good idea and you can even fly me to the stone's location!" "I know you'd see it my way. Sure, I'll fly you there." "But you must stop with all of this 'my darling' and 'sweetheart' and anything else that involves lovey dovey stuff cause.. I DON'T LOVE YOU! I don't even know you to even LIKE you!" "Well, if you want to know me you can always ask." "Hmm... Nah! Let's go! Time is wasting. The sooner I retrieve the stone and give it to Hunter the sooner I can get back home."
He growled a little about her not wanting to know about himself but he did just want she said; he grabbed her by her stomach and took off.
"Grr.. give it BACK!" she shouted. She ran to him trying to get the map but Mainyu quickly flew into the air. "It's a shame, you don't have wings.. or you could of had a better chance to get the map back. Well, I must be going now, don't want to be the last one to get the crescent stone! And by the way, I lied about not looking for it! Mwahahaha!" said Mainyu. He flew into the cave while Penny watched him, helplessly..
Back at the hospital, Hunter sitting in his bed: "Where's Penny? She's taking too long.. probably because of Mainyu.. if he didn't need the crescent stone as well it would be easy for her. I shouldn't have dragged her into this.. just because Rebecca is afraid of me being like this.. doesn't mean I should have told her to... If only I could help her.. but I must stay in bed until my wounds heal!" said Hunter feeling sad and angry. His eyes started to glow green with anger. He knew he was starting to transform so he quickly calmed himself down and eyes returned to normal. "That was.. close.." said Hunter as he started panting from the sudden transformation. "Great.. I forgot about transforming if I'm in anger and I was almost angry enough to start the transformation.." He was thinking quietly for a while until he got an idea. "Wait! Maybe it'll be alright to transform.. since I remember of another time I was in so much pain but when I transformed in anger, I was so angry that I didn't feel as much pain as I did before... I know it'll be risky to transform in anger.. but I got no choice!" He thought of something that makes him angry and his eyes turned green instantly. A nurse opens the door to his room. "How are you feeling today.. uh?" She paused, he was gone.. "Sir..?" Only the window beside his bed was opened as the the wind moved the curtains.
Meanwhile. "Mainyu.. that JERK! I can't believe it! He TRICKED me!" shouted Penny. "Penny!" said an unknown voice. "Uh? Did someone say my name right now?" she questioned. "Penny! Penny!" She turned around. "Rebecca?!" she shouted in surprise. Rebecca came running towards Penny and stopped in front of her panting from the long run. "What are you doing here?" Penny asked. She panted for a little while and spoke. "I'll help you find the crescent stone!" said Rebecca.
"You will but.. what about Mainyu.. OH! So, your finally free to help me then?" "Yep! Since Mainyu isn't bothering the Village anymore, I'm free to help you. Now let's get that stone for Hunter! Are you with me?!" "Ah-huh! But how do we get in?" "Follow me!" Rebecca led Penny to a secret entrance on the left hand side of the cave. Beside the secret door was a carving of a hamster paw print where Rebecca placed her paw as she pressed on a secret switch and the door raised from the ground and stopped until it was raised to the top of the entrance that showed the inside. "Wow! I didn't know there was secret entrance! It's a good thing Mainyu doesn't know about it since he took the one with all the traps, haha." "Yep but only a few hamsters know about it, like myself and the Old Woman. I actually know this entrance from her since she told me one day." "Oh, sweet! Now let's get that stone!" Rebecca nodded.
They both went inside. The place was huge, a few pillars where placed in a circle that held up a walkway that formed a circle. In the middle, four rounded cement circles; one big, one medium and a small one that are stacked from biggest first to smallest. The smallest one held the crescent stone.
After saying those words from his now broken heart he began to transform as his whole body started to glow blue, taking the shape of his wolf form as the glow slowly faded away reveling a growling Mainyu with his eyes still glowing blue, showing that he was in rage, that made Penny gulp and her body stiff as her paws started to shake while she held the stone. Mainyu charged straight at her. Thinking she was a goner she quickly closed her eyes tightly so she wouldn't see it coming. But it never came as she opened them and saw Rebecca in front of her using her bow and shooting arrows at him. He was hit with the arrows and growled in pain but that didn't stop him from charging at Penny. She quickly jumped off the steps and ran for her life. Mainyu crashed into the platform where the stone used to be but that still didn't stop him as he got up and came after her once again.
"Hey you! Come and get me!" Yelled Rebecca, standing on top of the circled walkway. He wasn't listening to her as he started to growl at Penny. Rebecca shot more arrows at him to get his attention to go after her instead. He growled in pain again and went after her and jumped on to the circled walkway platform with Rebecca.
Penny ran as fast as she could before Mainyu had a chance to sink his teeth into Hunter. She managed to stop Mainyu from biting Hunter by running between the two wolves but ended up being bitten by Mainyu on her side as he then tossed her by a near by cliff as Penny fell to her doom. Suddenly, Hunter manages to get up and attacks Mainyu by sinking his teeth, deep into Mainyu's chest as Mainyu collapses onto the ground."Phew.. thanks, Rebecca! Uh-oh!" She looked up at the two on the platform as Rebecca was coming close to the edge. Just about to fall. But before she did they all heard a how from the cave entrance. The one who was howling was no one other than Hunter!
Hunter growled in anger, as his eyes glowed green. As the two wolves kept fighting, Hunter began to grow weak but Mainyu didn't feel weak at all as his anger gave him the strength to go on. The more they fought, the more Hunter's strength began to fade. Soon Mainyu grabs him by the neck with his teeth and slams him down onto the ground as Hunter yelps in pain. "Hunter.." Said Rebecca quietly as tears formed in her eyes. The wounded wolf struggled to get up and continue the fight but he feel back down. He was slowly on the verge of dieing. Mainyu walked up slowly to him as he opened up his mouth, showing his sharp teeth as he began to bite into Hunter's neck to end this fight for good.
"HUNTER!! NO!" Shouted Penny as she quickly gave the crescent stone for Rebecca to hold and ran on all fours to Hunter.
Penny closed her eyes tightly as she continued to fall to her doom. She couldn't believe Mainyu did that to her, even though he loved her, his anger got the best of him. Penny felt so sorry for Mainyu, he had so much anger that he won the battle between him and Hunter. And he was going to use the crescent stone to destroy his wolf self from ever returning since being a wolf hamster wasn't the only problem he has. The fall from the cliff was long as she slowly opened her eyes to see her hard landing and quickly closed them. 'This is the end.. I'm going to die... Goodbye, Hunter.. goodbye, Rebecca.... and goodbye... Sydney.....' Penny cried hard as tears started falling from her eyes. She knew she won't be able to see any of them.. ever again...
After biting hard at Mainyu, Hunter's eyes closed as he collapsed onto the ground and transformed back. Rebecca ran over to Hunter's side with the stone in her paw as she layed it next to her to lay her paws on Hunter as she cried on his stomach. Hunter slowly opened his eyes and saw Rebecca crying on him.
"Re.. bec ...ca" "She wanted to save me... so she sacrificed her life.. for mine...." He began to cry as well.
As Penny continued falling something unbelievable happened.. she suddenly stopped in mid air and heard the sound of wings flapping. She opened her eyes, wondering why she stopped falling. Penny looked behind her and gasped as she saw two light blue wings flapping, which is why she suddenly stopped falling.. she somehow grew wings! Penny smiled happily as the mysterious wings saved her life.
It wasn't long before Penny got to the top and slowly landed.
"Probably from my DNA.." Everyone turned to face Mainyu. "From your DNA?" Questioned Penny. "Yes... even though it's not a high percentage than turning into a wolf hamster.. I guess it's a possibility to inherit my abilities as well..."
Hunter looked at Mainyu, he was covered with more cuts and bruises than he was as he layed helplessly on the ground. The more he looked at him, the more he felt bad for him. Hunter really wanted to use the stone instead but he thought it over for a while and insisted on Mainyu to use the crescent stone. Which surprised Penny and Rebecca who thought Mainyu deserved it more (at least Penny did, Rebecca wasn't sure about it).
"Even though your my enemy.. you need this more than I do."
Silence filled the air as Hunter thought about this.
Afterwords, the three hamsters walk back to Rebecca's house that's located near the Ham-Ham Village. Hunter and Rebecca talk to each other since she feels better about being with him since he came to their rescue before she fell off the platform. But Penny walks in silence, thinking about Mainyu even if he did capture and took her away from her beloved owner he must have done it because he over heard her complaining about always being in her cage. She felt so sorry for him and wish she could have do something to help him.
They make it to Rebecca's house and head inside, entering the living room. Her house is the size of a cabin on the inside and outside.
After they said their goodbyes, Penny appears her wings and flies back home to her beloved owner. Sydney opens the door to her room with a depressed look. She walks over to her bed and sits down, Sydney looks over to Penny's cage that's now on a cardboard box. "I wish I knew where you where, Penny... I miss you so much...." She said through her tears. "Where are you, Penny?!" Sydney kept crying as she put her hands over her eyes. If on cue, Penny pocks her head through her little red house in her cage and saw her owner. "Sydney..?" Penny said starting to cry. "Sydney! I'm back!" She said as she ran out of her house and knocked herself into the cage bars, trying to reach her. Her owner stopped crying and looked at Penny's cage as she smiled to her. "Penny..? Penny!!" Sydney immediately went to her hamster's cage and opened the door, as Penny jumped onto her hand happily. With Penny in her hand, she snuggled her against her cheek. "Where have you been?! I was so sad without you!""Wow! You live here all by yourself?" Asked Penny. "Yep!" Responded Rebecca and turns to Hunter, blushing. "Hey Hunter, I was wondering if you would like to... umm.... l-live here.. with me? I mean.. you don't have anywhere else to live.. right?" "Well.. Your right, I don't have anywhere else to live... all I've been doing is just traveling since no one would let me in cause of my wolf tail... I would love to stay..." Looks at the crescent stone in her right paw. "But I can't stay here as a wolf hamster until I use the crescent stone." Rebecca nodded. "In that case.. here!" She handed the stone to him. "To be able to use the crescent stone.. all you need to do is to hold it!" She said with a smile. "Alright.." Said Hunter. As he grabbed the stone. After grabbing the stone, Hunter started glowing, as a bright white light covered his body. The light then started to dim until it was gone. "Well... did it work..?" Asked Hunter as he turned around so Rebecca could see if he still had the wolf hamster tail or not. "Y-your wolf hamster tail! It's GONE!!" Said Rebecca happily. "I-it is..?!!" Said Hunter. Penny walked over to see if it was true. "WOW!! It really is GONE! Yaaay!!" Said Penny happily. "YEEEESSS!! I'm not a wolf hamster anymore! I'm normal, I'm normal!!" Said Hunter jumping up and down happily. Since the crescent stone fulfilled Hunter's wish he happily asked Rebecca if he could stay as she happily said yes. After being apart and being brought back together thanks to Penny. Hunter and Rebecca where more than just friends, they became best friends. But little did Rebecca know that Hunter said to himself that one day he would tell his feelings to her as he really loved her but was too shy to tell her. Penny told them that she better be getting home, she knew that Sydney must be heartbroken without her. "I see.. well it was nice to meet you and thank you so much for helping me get the stone, I couldn't have done it without you!" Said Hunter as he gave Penny a big hug. She smiled "Your welcome! I was happy to help!" Rebecca agreed with him. "If you have time, please visit us! "Alright!" Said Penny happily.
"Sorry.. long story. But I'll never run away again! I've learned my lesson." Said Penny.
[Penny's Point of View]Sydney felt so happy about this that she ran downstairs with Penny in her hands to tell her Mom who just came home from work. "Mom! Penny came back!" She said as she walked over to her Mom. "She did?!" "Yeah! I don't know how but she did! Look!" Sydney showed her Penny who looked up at her. "Penny, where were you?" Said Sydney's Mom as she petted Penny's head gently. The little hamster smiled happily at her gentle petting (which she loves).
I slept like a rock in my little red house that night.. It felt surprisingly good to be in my cage again. I'm so glad to be home.. I just hope no one ever fulfills my escape wish again but if that does happen, I'll always return to my beloved owner. |
